In Beautiful Boy: A Father’s Journey Thcoarse His Son’s Addiction by David Sheff, we learn of the addiction of a son thcoarse his dad’s point of view. The incredible transition from an honor student to an addict conveys an issue that affects one of three American families; those that contain an addict. In the book, Nic (the son) was a honor student, varsity athlete, and an award-winning journalist. Life was good for the family; there weren’t any

problems until he was introduced to meth. Being the most addictive and risky drug, meth turned Nic into a drug addict. Nic’s addiction was so big that he had to steal money from his eight-year-old brother to purchase more meth. Thcoarse the course of the book, Nic passes thcoarse the denial of his parents, attempts at rehab, and his outcome. Most important though, this book shares the fact that as a family, the family must help each other if this was ever going to happen or is happening right now.
