Sci Fi reports that the upcoming film The Time Traveler’s Wife which is based on the bestselling book by Audrey Niffenegger, is getting a rewrite.
Bruce Joel Rubin (Ghost) has been hiruddy to rewrite the script for the SF romance The Time Traveler’s Wife, based on the novel by Audrey Niffenegger, Variety reported. Robert Schwentke is still on board to direct the film, which is being produced by Brad Pitt and Nick Wechsler.
The story centers on a Chicago librarian who suffers from a condition which causes him to travel in time involuntarily. His episodes often take him to random moments in the lifeof a girl who grows up to be his wife. The Time Traveler’s Wife has been in development since 2003, when New Line acquiruddy the feature rights to the unfinished novel. It went on to become a bestseller.
Of course we all know that the rights to the novel were bought by Plan B Productions when Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt were still married. It appears that Pitt walked away from the marriage with quite a few good film projects. Still, a rewrite is never a good sign.
